If you think you'll need a sitter, it's a good idea to have one, purely because if you've done your research, you'll probably find you won't be able to relax and enjoy your trip without one. A few points on sitters:
- Make sure your sitter understands that, although you might both be planning to try it, you may not be in a state to look after them by the time you come up. My first time, even when I was back in the room, I didn't feel I could trust myself to look after someone else until my mind had finished trying to figure out what the fuck just happened.
- The sitter should sit back, shut up and stay the hell out of your trip. This is *really* important. Those YouTube videos you've seen with people having bad trips? The common theme is some asshole with a camera phone getting in the guys face, or a squeaky bitch freaking out and trying to talk him down. This is absolutely the WRONG thing for a sitter to be doing. Unless you're in danger of causing yourself physical harm, they should sit back, observe, and stay quiet. You'll be back in 10 minutes or so. Warn them that it may be a scary experience for them, and they need to relax and deal with it.
